Cameroon Coach Volker Finke will remain at his post for another two years after his contract is purported to have been extended on Monday May 11 2015.
The extension of the contract has provoked critical debates across the national territory with many proposing that he should be sacked.
According to reports, the renewal of the contract comes following a message from the country’s presidency and the team’s kit producer Puma.
The country’s sport federation had begun the search for the successor of the German born technician before the presidency reacted.
The local media and supporters of the Indomitable Lions have been critical of the coach following the team’s debacle experienced in two international outings where they failed to progress from the group stage.
Cameroon will play a friendly match against Burkina Faso on June 6 in Paris and DRC on June 8 2015 in Belgium, before facing Mauritania for the 2015 first AFCON qualifier on June 12.
Finke is expected to take the lions to the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
