The Indomitable Lions during the day two Nations Cup qualifier match played at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium trampled on the Elephants 4-1 to maintain their lead in Group D.

A brace from both Clinton Njie and Vincent Aboubakar gave the lions the lead and credit to Finke for putting his confidence in the young players.

It was an energetic Clinton Njie who opened scores crossing the ball from his right to left leg for a beautiful finishing at the 14th minute of the encounter and four minutes later sent scored another goal that was cancelled.

The crowd was present to egg the players on with shouts.

Njie caused the first Ivorian goal by trying to dribble and the ball but it was snatched and the elephants leveled the score at the 25th minute through Yaya Toure. Their joy was short-lived as Aboubakar increased tally at the 38 minute.

Herve Renard’s squad came back from recess to dominate but their pressing with Gervinho and Aurier Serge at the flanks were fruitless.

Also, Lions goalkeeper, Fabrice Ondoua rubbished the actions of the Ivorian attackers as proved he was the man of the situation, anticipating he made four vital saves that could have been dangerous to the Lions.

Choupo Moting later gave the pass for Aboubakar to complete his brace at the 53 minute before leaving the game after an injury.

The clean finishing for the four goal came from Njie who chest a pass from Aboubakar Vincent, e to correct his error 75 minutes as Barry Boubacar went sprawling on the ground.

An incident in the stadium created panic when an Serge, went down as a result of a collision with Kwekeu and had to be transported to the hospital.
