Basil Afoni-Pierre Achille Webo is the third player to announce his international retirement after Jean II Makoun and former captain, Samuel ETo’o.

Webo, at age 32 released a statement on Sunday thanking his former teammates and colleagues and wishing the Indomitable Lions good luck in their future engagements.

His Resignation came after he was excluded from Volker Finke’s list for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against DR Congo and Ivory Coast.

The Fenerbahçe forward has enjoyed 11 years solid years with Cameroon national team since joining the lions in 2003, making 58 caps and scoring 18 goals.

His greatest moment in the lions den came during the encounter against Ivory Coast in 2006, were the striker scored a hat-trick to give Cameroon an away victory.

Born in Bafoussam, West Region, Webó started his professional career in Uruguay, playing three years with Uruguay’s Club Nacional de Football, winning two first division titles – although he only was an important first-team member in his third year.
