A month to the kick-off of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and has been the tradition, Cameroon Sports are sharpening skills ahead of the great football jamboree and the Volley-ball World Cups in the women and men’s categories.
Organised by the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, the three day seminar under the theme: Sports Diplomacy and Cameroon’s Image in the perspective of emergence: the role of the journalist, kicked-off today.
Besides the main theme, focus would be on professional mastery, ethical rigour and social responsibility as ingredients of journalistic performance.
The training would provide practical modalities, attitudes and behaviour for the journalists in the field or in the office.
During a brainstorming session on the expectations from the Ministry, sports journalists said the Ministry should provide financial assistance and ease transportation for journalists who would be covering the three World Cups.
They decried the fact that foreign journalists during international competitions like the World Cup have easy assess to players compared to Cameroonian journalists and urged the actors to ensure such a situation is reversed.
The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Adoum Garoua presided at the opening ceremony at the Warda Sports complex.
