Lions4life.com has learnt that the players of Canon of Yaounde are on strike following the recent problems plaguing ‘mekok me ngonda’.
The division in Canon between the Committee of the Wise and the President of the Administrative Board, Celine Eko, has not helped the club.
Canon is at the bottom of the league table with three points and the last coach Bertain Ebwelle resigned due to poor results.
Also, the players are facing hard times due to their poor financial situation as they have not been paid, most times they go for their games in taxis, a situation described as alarming.
Meanwhile, a meeting of Canon supporters has been announced for this afternoon at the Anguissa stadium.
Canon may not be the only club grumbling, most clubs are in bad shape financially, some are even reducing their players.
Other clubs may join the strike bringing back fears expressed at the beginning of the championship with the increase in the number of clubs to 19 without a sponsor.
