Samuel Eto’o reveals it is not Chelsea’s ‘obsession’ to finish top of the Premier League this season

I like to do, playing football. Every game, I try to do something to help the team.”
Samuel Eto’o believes Chelsea have every chance of winning the Premier League but insists finishing runners-up would resemble a good season.
Jose Mourinho’s men went top of the table on Saturday by defeating Newcastle 3-0, as Arsenal and Manchester City both dropped points.
The Portuguese continues to play down his side’s title chances, although reports yesterday suggested he had taken a different stance within the dressing room.
Next up for Chelsea is a trip to West Brom tomorrow night and while Eto’o hopes to stay top of the pile, he believes a second-placed finish would not be a disaster.
He told the club’s official website: “We are one of the competitors and if the occasion presents itself we must try to take advantage of it.
“We are top now and we are going to try to finish at the top, but it’s not our obsession. If we finish second it will have been a very good season.
The Cameroon striker has started the Blues’ last five matches, and played a key part in Eden Hazard’s superb second against Newcastle.
And while he is delighted with his impact, Eto’o saved special praise for his in-form team-mate.
He added: “Eden has been brilliant this week, but not only this week. We can only hope he will keep on playing like this.
“The second goal was Eden’s goal and I just played the pass that was necessary for him to score the goal.
“More and more I have been showing what I like to do, playing football. Every game, I try to do something to help the team.”
