Lion’s coach, Volker Finke, while presenting his training programme has justified the choice of Vitoria as base for the indomitable lions.

The lions would set base in Vitoria in the state of Espirito Santo in South-east Brazil, chosen for medical reasons according to Finke.

“Teams are avoiding the north because it is too hot”, he justified the choice of Vitoria. He said that all the teams had no choice but to make the long distances to play their games.

Cameroon would play two warm-up matches with Portugal on March 5 and Germany on June 1.

Finke is cautious not head for too many big countries, the reason negotiations are underway to find a team of former Russia such as Macedonia and Slovenia and a Latin American team.

Preparation is taking into consideration the play styles of Cameroon’s opponents, Croatia, Mexico and Brazil.

Finke intends to hold a training camp in February in Yaoundé to select local players to include in the list of 40 players to start training.

Ahead of the World Cup, the team would warm up in Austria and play farewell match in Cameroon prior departure to Brazil.
