Cameroon has concluded negotiations for friendly matches with Portugal and Argentina, two world football giants.
Portugal and Argentina are ranked 5th and 3rd respectively on the latest Fifa ranking while Cameroon is down the ladder in the 50th position.
The friendly with Portugal is set for March 5 while the Argentina friendly is billed for June 6.
Unlike the Germany-Cameroon friendly on June 1 already on the Fifa calendar, these matches are not yet inscribed in FIFA calendar but, Cameroon coach Volker Finke has confirmed the deals though without giving details.
Finke and the President of the Normalisation Committee, Joseph Owona are set to provide more details on the friendlies on January 9 in a press conference.
Portugal and Argentina would play African teams during the World Cup, the reason these have made the friendlies ahead of the football jamboree.
Portugal is in group G alongside Germany, US and Ghana, while Argentina is paired with Iran, Bosnia and Nigeria.
Cameroon is lodged in group A with host Brazil, Mexico and Croatia.
President Biya in his New Year’s speech expressed the wish to see the team go beyond the quarter final stage in 1990 thanks to the exploits of Milla Roger and Tataw Stephen and teammates.
If the Indomitable Lions have to perform better than in 1990, preparation is the key and achievable though friendly matches.
