The Cameroon Football team has not been able to leave for the Francophonie Games with the delegation today as some players still await their visas.
The seventh Francophonie Games are billed for Nice France from September 6 -15.
Lions4life learnt that some members of the delegation from the regions were told to go get their visas from the French consulate in Douala among them the footballers.
But, the process is on and there is hope that the rest of the delegation would get their visas on Monday.
While bidding farewell to the delegation, Sports Minister, Adoum Garoua chided the athletes to return to Cameroon after the games.
“From now, wherever you find yourself individually and collectively, you are expected to be ambassadors of Cameroon. Consider yourselves ambassador. This means your first task is to defend the interest of your country, project the image of your country, be of good behaviour and honour your country, respect fair play, the rules of the game and the decision of the referees”.
The call was within the background of the mass defection of Cameroonian athletes after the London Olympic Games in 2012.
Cameroon was negatively remarked for being one of those countries where athletes disappeared into thin air during the competition with no medal.
Besides the eight disciplines, Football, Basketball, Athletic, Judo Table Tennis and Cycling among others, there would be other cultural competitions, dance, song, arts and literature.
