The Cameroon Professional Football League, CPFL has suspended some Elite One matches so that players can prepare for the CHAN game.
Cameroon has a chance of qualifying for the CHAN which is to beat the DR Congo when the two teams lock horns on in Garoua on August 25.
Cameroon lost their initial qualification chance when the Pantheres of Gabon eliminated the Lions on 7-6 penalties and after a 1-0 win on both sides.
Most players of the Amateur Lions happen to be the same playing the in local championship. Against this background, some matches have been suspended in order to maximize the A Lions chances of qualifying for CHAN.
The communique signed by the interim SG of the CPFL, Therese Manguele reads, “ Due to the involvement of Elite One players in the CHAN, and to maximize the qualification chances of the A Lions for the Cameroon-DR Congo match billed for July 25 in Garoua; the matches, Canon-Coton and Young Sport-Union counting for day 20 have been postponed to a later date”.
In order to guarantee and equitable season, the league indicates that the above matches and others would be played before day 22.
