Egyptian, Mohammed Elsobky is the 2013 SONARA International Table Tennis Champion in the male category. He beat Nigerian Kazeem Makanjoula Isiaka, to lift the cup for the third time running.

Elsobky at the end of the competition said he was happy with his performance and needed it for his country Egypt.
“I am very happy I won this tournament for the third time in Cameroon which I love very much”. “The atmosphere of the game was nice and it is very nice to win in such an atmosphere”.

Rating his performance, Elsobky said he started the championship suffering from a pain on his back which caused him to lose his first game. But, this did not stop him as he beat Kazeem from Nigeria at the group stage and Saed from Congo in a very difficult match.

Playing table tennis for the past fifteen years, Elsobky says he likes Cameroon because the players are treated like family.

Like Sarah, Elsobky, the 23 years old player of the Egyptian National Table Tennis Team, hopes to qualify for the Olympic Games and win a medal.

A lover of Table Tennis, Elsobky says the Cameroon table tennis is improving and so are the players.In Egypt there are lots of tournaments and many professional players in Europe, he said. Egypt came third in the World Table Tennis Championship and table tennis in Egypt is now at a very high level.
