Sarah Hanffou, the 2010 African Champion, has completed the first of her group as the Yaounde SONARA International Table Tennis Championship kicked off in Yaounde today.

She beat Egyptian Reem El-Eraky 3sets to 1 in the first game which to her was the most difficult.

“Though I won this first game against the Egyptian, I was not yet in top form, but the second and third games were much easier”, Sarah said.

Rating her opponents she said, “The Egyptian and Nigerian players Yaya Sidikat Yetunde and Ajaila Funmilola Olayinka are the toughest for me, though, I have to pay attention to all”.

Last year Sarah did not take part in the tournament and would want to take back her tittle from Algerian Islem Laid 2012 winner in the female category.

To achieve this goal she said, “I need to focused on the game tomorrow”.

Sarah is in Top-form for the games ahead. “I have been doing a lot of physical exercises and I hope step by step I will get to the top”.

As the first in her group, she would play the second of Group B in the semi-finals tomorrow. There were only eight ladies in two groups.

While Sarah showed signs of good form, Mercy Tayim seemed in bad shape as she lost 3sets to 0 in the first game.

After the tournament, Sarah hopes to take part in the French league in September.
