Cameroon international striker, and captain of Dagestan side, Anzhi Makhachkala, has been named best player of the Russian Premier League for the 2012/2013 season.
The four-time African Footballer of the Year, who also captains his national team, Indomitable Lions, helped Anzhi to finish third on the league table.
“I am very proud of this new award. I was named as the best player in the Russian league for 2012-2013 season, all this has been possible thanks to your continued support,” Eto’o said in a message to fans and journalists on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old striker will miss Cameroon’s clash against Togo on June 9 after he was sidelined due to injury.
Cameroon are leading Group I with 6 points ahead of Libya (5pts), DR Congo and Togo.
