The government has suspended the elective general assembly of the Cameroon Football Federation, Federation.
There were three candidates on the list, out-going Iya Mohammed, First Vice-President, John Begheni Ndeh and a lady Marlene Emvoutou.
The elections were billed for tomorrow May 25.
The elections are banned for security reasons.
The Arbitration and Conciliation Committee of the National Olympics and Sports Committee has declared incumbent president, Iya Salim Shagari Mohammed ineligible for the elections.
The decision comes after the first Vice President of the Federation; John Begheni Ndeh filed an appeal to the Olympic Committee for the candidature of the out-going president to be annulled.
He argued that since Iya has been found wanting of mismanagement he can no longer be eligible as stipulated in article 34 of Fecafoot statues.
All candidates for the post of president should, “Not to have been guilty of financial mismanagement”.
“Not to have been denied go ahead in management”.
The Supreme State Audit recently suspended Iya Mohammed from any managerial position for seven years, with special fine of FCFA 2m for making the Coton Company, Sodecoton to lose FCFA 9 billion.
Some regional elections have been contested and a number of irregularities have been identified in the Fecafoot regional and departmental elections.
CAF and FIFA representative Adoum Djibril already present in Yaoundé for the elections is holding a meeting delegates.
