A new coach is expected in Cameroon in the days ahead to take over from Jean Paul Akono, lions4life.com has learnt.
“A delegation left Cameroon yesterday to France to bring the ‘White Witch’ on Tuesday”, a member of the Cameroon Football Federation, has said.
“A restraint delegation”, the Fecafoot member added.
Another source from the Sports Ministry told lions4life.com, “things would happen after May 20” Cameroon National Day-the day the French and British Cameroons united to form one nation.
In the meantime, convocations have been sent to the players called by Jean Paul Akono. This is probably an indication that the list has been validated.
Akono made public a 25-man squad for the friendly against Ukraine and and the World cup qualifier matches in June without following the normal procedure.
The led to contestations by the Federation and the Sports Ministry.
“He was told to wait and he went ahead to public the list”, BBC Sport was told.
In the event of a change of coach, the new coach would work on Akono’s list.
Meanwhile, four coaches were recently auditioned by a seven-man Cameroonian delegation in France. These are Raymond Domenech, Antoine Kambouare, Volker Finke and Pierre Lechantre.
But, either Raymond Domench or Antoine Domenech is likely to replace Akono who is just recovering from a malaise, (partial paralysis).
