Following the African Championship draws, Coton Sport of Garoua would clash with Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast next Monday.
Meeting on Tuesday, May 14 at the headquarters of CAF in Egypt, officials grouped the eight teams that had qualified for the 8th finals, in two pools, after a raffle draw.
Cameroon’s lone representatives, Coton Sport of Garoua have been drawn in group B, where they shall clash with Esperance of Tunis (Tunisia), Recreativo Libolo of Angola and Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast.
The Calendar published by CAF on Wednesday, Coton Sport FC shall welcome Sewe Sport in Garoua on July 20, 2013 for the first game and move to Tunisia on August 04 to tussle with Esperance of Tunis.
Two weeks after, on August 18, the Garoua boys will be hosted by Recreativo Do Libolo in Angola. Another match will be at San Pedro against Sewe Sport for the return-leg.
Coton again battle with Esperance in the second leg at home on September 21.
Almost all encounters in the draw will be unprecedented confrontations, wherein three of the eight teams; AC Leopards, Recreativo Libolo and Sewe Sport San Pedro, have never battled in a group stage.
However, the Cairo derby, Al Ahly-Zamalek in group A, will be the fourth confrontation between two great Cairene clubs, rated the most successful of the event.
In 2005, Ahly beat their rival neighbours at the semi-finals (2-1, 2-0) on an aggregate of 4-1, and in 2008 (2-1, 2-2) and 2012 (1-0, 1-1) edging Zamalek on each occasion.
Coton Sport and Esperance were runners’ up in 2008 and 2012 respectively, after loosing the finals to Al Ahly.
