The newly promoted Division I Club, AS Kirikou of Garoua, grabbed a lifeline on Sunday 12 May 2013 to stay afloat in the first division, after thrashing Canon Sportif ladies 2-0.
The Canon girls, fondly called Kpa-Kum, were stripped off their pride to the surprise of many by the determined Garoua ladies in a match counting for the Sixth Day of the National First Division Women’s Football.
AS Kirikou’s victory, the second in line, show that the team’s ambition goes well beyond maintaining their status as a Division I club.
With two consecutive wins, AS Kirikou commands admiration and occupies the second position on the classification table with 11points, close behind leaders, Caiman of Douala.
For the other results, Louves Minproff and Femina Stars of Ebolowa separated on a 2-2 draw, while AS Lokomotive of Yaounde and Lorema FC also played a virgin game.
The legue leaders, Caiman, strengthened their leadership position by beating AS Police of Yaounde 1-0. Emergence FF of Yaounde also edged Franck Rohlicek of Douala on a similar goal margin.
