Former Cameroon International Jacques Songo’o has returned to the national team following his appointment by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Adoum Garoua.
Songo’o was appointment following the proposition of the Cameroon Football Federation, Fecafoot.
The best African Goalkeeper of 1996 takes over the training of the Indomitable Lions goalkeepers from Pierre Mbarga who was recently contested by goalkeepers.
The players complained that Mbarga did not have what it takes to train the goalkeepers and wished to see him removed from this post.
Mbarga was appointed by former Sports Minister, Michel Zoah and changed from the female to the male national teams.
Songo’o trained the goalkeepers in 2010 and replaced Le Guen for a short while before Javier Clemente was appointed.
At 48, Songo’o has got all the qualifications of a goalkeeper trainer and would have as immediate task helping Cameroon goalkeepers to stop the goals on October 14.
Sylvain Alain Monkam Tchokonte, a Sport and Physical Education Teacher, was appointed as the physical trainer and Emmanuel Ambane the psychological trainer have also been appointed.
Songo’o and his colleagues officially take over function on October 8 when the Indomitable Lions go to camp in Yaounde.
