Arsenal midfielder, Alexandre Song Bilong was physically attacked at the Kennedy Avenue, an area notorious with street children and thieves.

The attack is said to be a vent of anger following the Indomitable Lions dramatic 2-1 defeat in the hands of the Mediterranean knights two days ago.

Reports say police rescued Song from the hands of the angry fans.

The information was given to the national radio by Legend Milla and Emmanuel Mve Elemva both members of the Committee to Redress Football who equally call for calm and urged Cameroonians to rally behind the Lions.

Cameroonian fans have not been happy with the team of late and demonstrated their anger by throwing stones at the Lions bus. The fans attributed the lions 1-0 win over DR Congo to luck.

The negative attitude towards the team has been attributed to the poor management of football in the country.

Within this hostile environment, the players avoided their bus which the federation took to the airport so as not to be conspicuous, afraid of the fan’s reaction after their loss.
