Following the end of the 2016-17 football championship in Cameroon, Racing FC of Bafoussam, Lion Blessé of Fortuni and Canon FC of Yaounde have been relegated from the topflight league and into the second division Championship.
The sides confirmed their relegation after the 34th and last playing day of the championship that took place last October 1 across the national territory.
Before the last playing day, the trio had been mathematically doomed for some time, with bottom of the table Canon FC being the first team to suffer the effect.
During the last day, Canon FC, last on the table with 26 points suffered a 1-2 defeat in the hands of Astres FC of Douala who were also battling to remind in division one. The relegation of Canon has been seen a step towards reorganizing the team since in-house fighting has taken center stage for all most three years now.
In Fortuni, relegated Lion Blessé incurred a 0-2 defeat to Union FC of Douala that was also face with relegation.
A brilliant performance from Racing FC over Stade Renard of Melong did not solve their problem and Aigle Royal of Menoua stood a point in front of the Bafoussam team.
The three relegated teams will play in the 2017/2018 division two championship that is expected to kick off in the coming days.
