The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have started training ahead of day 5, 2018 World Cup qualifiers set for Russia with Njie Clinton marking his return to the Lions’ den.
Njie Clinton returns to the team after about eight months since the Africa Cup of Nations. He was not part of the squad Broos took to the confederations cup, but his recent form with OM as best scorer certainly impressed Broos to bring him back.
The Lions began their training session Tuesday October 3 in Yaounde with 22 out of the 23 players called up by team coach Hugo Broos.
Of the players present, only Yaya Banana, right back for Panionios FC in the Greek Superleague is missing in the roll call.
The first training session was devoted to stretching and jogging and it was observed convivial discussions among staff and players.
Both group B teams would clash on Saturday October 7 with no hopes of qualifying for the world soccer jamboree given that Cameroon is third in Group B with three points while Algeria is first from the bottom with one point. Nigeria tops the table with 10 points while Zambia comes second with seven points.
