The clash between Germany and Cameroon in the last group match is highly awaited by fans as the games will decide the team to go through to the last four.
After losing to Chile and conceding a draw against Australia, Cameroon got into an uncomfortable position. If they want to reach the last square, they must not only beat Germany, World Champions, but also do it by two goals apart.
In other words, despite the cliché that “everything is possible in football”, the National Mannschaft has little to fear for the qualification. But it will undoubtedly make it a point of honor to clinch it with the win, and if possible the first place in Group B, according to the result of Chile against Australia in the other game.
As of now, only one player has scored more than one goal in the tournament after two days of groups, and thus occupies the top of the ranking of the scorers: the German Lars Stindl. This are his first two international goals, which made his debut in the selection this year. The Bourussia Mönchengladbach striker has 20 goals in 48 matches in all competitions in 2016/17, the best year of his career at 28 years.
Coach Joachim during the five major tournaments in which he participated, has always reached the last square. A draw would guarantee him to continue this series. For the time being, his young ‘protégés’ were convincing in Russia, initially full of enthusiasm against Australia, and then solid against Chile.
Difficult to know which eleven will line up for the last group match, but it will undoubtedly be 11 players ready to fight to continue the adventure.
The match against Germany looks challenging for the Indomitable Lions who traveled to Sochi on the night after their disappointment against Australia.
Hugo Broos, who has twice lined up the same eleven, is expected to do his best, keeping his 4-3-3 game style. It remains to solve this problem of nervousness at the start of the encounter which maybe unforgivable against the Mannschaft.
Only this evening will tell given that the show will not be an easy one.
