The 26 year Cameroon midfielder, Patrick Ekeng has died after collapsing on a pitch at the 70th minutes in Romania.
According to reports, the Cameroonian international is suspected of having had heart attack.
Having been rushed to the Floreasca Emergency Hospital in Bucharest, doctors could not keep him alive as his death was pronounced two hours later.
Patrick Ekeng’s team Dinamo FC of Bucarest was playing a League match against Viitorul Constanta that ended on a 3-3 parity.
Claude Patrick Ekeng was born on May 2, 1990 in Yaounde. After playing in the Canon FC of Yaounde from 2008 to 2009, he joined Mans in France. In 2013, he played for Lausanne FC in Switzerland.
In the summer of 2014, he moved over to Cordoba in Spain; the club was relegated to Segunda B (second division) at the end of the 2015 season.
In January 2016, Ekeng sign with Dinamo Bucharest FC in Romania; a club that death will come knocking just four days after celebrating his twenty-sixth birthday.
Among the Indomitable Lions, he is vice-champion of African U-20 in 2009. In November 2014, he was called up to the Cameroon National team in the qualifiers of the 2015 AFCON against DRC.
The death of Ekeng last Friday May 6, reminds Cameroon and sport lovers of the death of Marc Vivien Foe who collapse on the June 23, 2003 in Stade Gerland in France during the FIFA Confederation Cup.
